Bonnie Brae Golf

Architect Charles
Willimon created this Bermuda grass golf course with a par 72 and water
in play. The 18-hole course, also owned by Willimon, has been the preferred
practice ground for area and visiting golfers since 1961. Bonnie Brae,
open daily from dawn to dusk, is located at 1316 Fork Shoals Road. Green
fees may range from $16 to $24, depending on the season and day of the

Cross Winds Golf
Center
Cross Winds Golf Center is a choice spot for many visiting golfers. The
18-hole, public golf course is conveniently located at 61 Villa Road,
right off of Interstate 385. The golf course, with a par 3, is open daily.
Visitors may pick up their last-minute essentials at the center’s

Donaldson Golf Club
Donaldson Golf Club offers visiting golfers a chance to play on any one
of its quality, par-36 courses: the 3,197-yard Blue course, the 3,050-yard
White course, and the 2,799-yard Red course. Donaldson, once a feature
of the Donaldson Air Force Base, is open daily from sunrise to sunset.

Furman University
Golf Club
Furman
University Golf University’s Paladin program has produced American
golfing sensations such as PGA’s Brad Taxon and LPGA’s Betsy
King, Beth Daniel, Dottie Pepper, and Sherri Turner. The club –
home of the Furman LPGA Pro-Am and two known collegiate tournaments –
challenges visitors with its 6,800-yard, bent grass greens. The par-72
golf course, which rests below the Blue Ridge Mountains, has beautiful
Bermuda fairways. Furman also features a driving range, practice bunker,
and putting and chipping greens. Call the semi-private club in advance

Hillandale Golf
Course
Hillandale Golf Course has been a prime outlet for golfers for more than
70 years. The golf course, with 18 holes and bent grass, is located at
105 S. Parker Road. Green fees vary from $15 to $20 depending on the season
and the number of holes visitors choose to play. Call the course office

Lakeview Golf Club
Some visiting golfers say the course at the semi-private Lakeview Golf
Club is well worth the money. Bermuda greens and Water Rye fairways accent
the 18-hole course, which features up to 20 sand bunkers. Water hazards
also are in play at Lakeview, which is located at 315 Piedmont Golf Course
Road. Its back tees measure 6,455 yards with a par 72, middle tees at
6,016 yards with a par 72, and the front tees cover 5,036 yards with a
par 73. Visitors should expect to pay an estimated $10 to $18 in fees
at Lakeview, depending on how many holes they play and when they visit
the course. Visitors may tee off as early as 7 a.m. at Lakeview. Call

Summerset Golf Club
Dogwood trees shape the semi-private Summerset Golf Club, which has an
18-hole course with a par 72. The well-bunkered course is located at 111
Pilot Road. Golf Course architect Tom Jackson designed Summerset’s
colorful landscape with tight fairways and accentuating lakes, ponds,
and streams. Summerset, which faces Paris Mountain, is open year-round.

Verdae Green Golf
Course
The fresh
smell of pine and the challenge of putting on well-manicured bent grass
greens lure visiting golfers to Verdae Green Golf Course, at 650 Verdae
Blvd. The verdant 18-hole course covers 6, 757 yards and has a par 72.
Verdae Green, with Bermuda fairways, is open daily from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Week and weekend green fees vary, and the cost of a cart rental is tacked

Outside of Greenville
Willow Creek Golf Course
Wide fairways
and quick bent greens are just a few of Willow Creek Golf Course’s
appealing features. Golf architect Tom Jackson designed the sprawling
golf course, which is ideal for the mid- to high-handicappers. It measures
up to 6,698 yards with a par 72. Willow Creek is located at 205 Sandy
Run Drive in neighboring Greer, which is just north of Greenville. Call

Southern Oaks Golf
Course
The semi-private Southern Oaks Golf Course is popular among the locals,
primarily because golfers don’t have to strain their legs to walk
the green. The easily maneuvered golf course has 18 attractive holes –
the 197-yard 11th one (at par 3) is the most challenging. Golfers must
be skilled to successfully guide their tee shots through a slender track
of trees and onto a well-bunkered area. The golf course is located at
105 Southern Oaks Drive in nearby Easley, which is northwest of Greenville.
